A Cold Cutting Saw is an important cutting equipment used in ERW tube mill production lines. It is designed to cut steel tubes and pipes accurately without generating excessive heat during cutting. Compared with traditional friction saw cutting, cold saw cutting provides smoother pipe ends, lower noise, better dimensional accuracy, and cleaner cutting surfaces.

What Is a Cold Cutting Saw?

Position of Cold Cutting Saw in ERW Tube Mill

The pipe enters the cold saw continuously, and the flying saw synchronizes its moving speed with the pipe speed to perform non-stop cutting.

Typical process flow:

Uncoiler → Accumulator → Forming Section → HF Welder → Cooling → Sizing → Straightening → Cold Cutting Saw → Run Out Table

This flying cutting method ensures continuous production without stopping the tube mill.


Working Principle of Cold Cutting Saw

The cold cutting saw operates using a servo synchronization control system.

During production:

  1. The steel tube moves continuously from the tube mill.
  2. The flying saw carriage accelerates and synchronizes with tube speed.
  3. The carbide circular saw blade rotates and cuts the pipe precisely.
  4. After cutting, the saw carriage returns automatically to its original position.
  5. The next cutting cycle begins immediately.
