What it Does:

The hydraulic upsetting machine enlarges the diameter of the end of a tube or rod by applying axial hydraulic force while holding the workpiece in a fixed die. This process is known as "upsetting" and is used to:

Prepare pipe ends for threading or connection (e.g., API tool joints)

Strengthen the joint section for higher mechanical load resistance
