What Is Cored Wire?
Cored wire is a special tubular wire made from low-carbon steel strip, filled with precisely formulated metallurgical powders. During steelmaking and secondary refining, the steel sheath melts in molten steel, releasing the internal powder to perform metallurgical reactions such as desulfurization, deoxidation, alloying, and inclusion modification.
Compared with direct powder addition, cored wire injection provides higher recovery rate, better reaction control, and improved steel cleanliness.
Our cored wire production line is a special-purpose ERW tube forming system designed for stable forming, accurate powder filling, and reliable tube sealing.

Main Applications
Cored wire is widely used in secondary steel refining and metallurgy processes, including:
-
Desulfurization in ladle refining
-
Deoxidation and oxygen control
-
Precise alloy addition
-
Inclusion modification and shape control
-
Improvement of molten steel cleanliness and stability
Typical application areas include ladle furnace (LF), secondary refining stations, continuous casting preparation, and special steel production.

Common Cored Wire Types
Our production lines are suitable for manufacturing various metallurgical cored wires, such as:
-
• Calcium wire (Ca)
-
• Calcium silicon wire (CaSi)
-
• Aluminum cored wire (Al)
-
• Titanium cored wire (Ti)
-
• Carbon cored wire
-
• Flux and compound alloy cored wire
Different powder formulations can be processed according to customer metallurgical requirements.
