What Is an Outside Burr Scarfing Insert?

Outside burrs appear on the external weld seam. If left untreated, they create a rough surface that makes coating, painting, or further processing more difficult.

Tool used: Outside burr scarfing inserts are mounted on the outer side of the tube.
Purpose: They cut and remove excess weld metal, leaving the pipe’s surface smooth and clean.

What Is an Inner Burr Removal Knife?

Inner burrs form inside the pipe along the weld line. They are harder to spot but can cause bigger problems, such as blocking fluid flow or damaging inserted components.

Purpose: Remove protrusions on the inner wall, ensuring a smooth interior.
